Detention Forum Working Groups get set to work

5 April 2012

For the next six months, many supporters of the Detention Forum will be working together to come up with a joint strategy to challenge UK’s immigration detention policy.

Four Working Groups, each comprised of 7 – 11 groups who will be looking at specific theme.  It is hoped that their plans will be brought together in summer to make up a single strategy.   The list of the Working Groups and their conveners are as below:

Communication WG – Kate Blagojevic, Detention Action

Judicial Oversight WG – Gemma Lousley, Detention Advice Service & Victor Fiorini, Dover Detainee Visitor Group

Indefinite Detention WG – Jerome Phelps, Detention Action

Detention of Vulnerable Adults WG – Nic Eadie, Gatwick Detainee Welfare Group and Ali McGinley, Association of Visitors to Immigration Detainees

The Detention Forum Co-ordination Group is extremely grateful to the funders who have made it possible for the Detention Forum to embark on this project.
